Mumbai - The City of Dreams

I am Mumbai.. The city of cloud-cuckoo-land for millions of populace including the trivial children, hot-blooded adolescents and eager grown-ups flooding in with thrill and exhilaration with every single sunrise. It’s me the pin-up of all the aspirants who look up to me to get their ambitions fulfilled. It’s me that people call the ultimate hub where lives are full of activity and leisure is a far-fetched expectation. I am a well-renowned entity known for the qualities of perseverance, determination and high degree of grit. I teach everyone to face failure and stand up again and yet again after thousands of falls. I am made of people from varied lifestyles and an array of backgrounds but the universal truth that shall gloss forever is that I love my people and I support and guide them when faced by ups and downs and so do they when I fall down with political or terrorist attacks, natural calamities or day-to-day difficulties. This is the glorious relation we share and will be sharing for many more years to come.

Since I am a city categorically known for new beginnings and people with traditional values and beliefs every fresh start in my boundaries happen with the blessings of God Ganesha. The idea is to give a touch of serenity to the start-up and keep it away from the odds and evil deeds. So let us all get together and shout it out “Ganpati Bappa Moraya”.

Busy lives, hectic work hours, deadlines, time constraints are words which revolve in the minds of all my dwellers. “Reach at a place in a particular time duration or loose the deal, get fired, feel disappointed and other such consequences are well-understood by all the individuals.” Roads with traffic jams, potholes and other such reasons force people to choose public transport. Then comes the additional parameter of a “speedy public transport”. And this is exactly what distinguishes me from the other cities. You say I give that’s my motto. You asked for a speedy transportation mode and I gave you the local trains. Can you imagine a life without local trains? The answer is an obvious NO. The unique mode that takes you from one place to another, from one corner to other corner in the most convenient and fastest way.

Life is going easy. There’s joy everywhere. I am happy and gay to see my children leading a fulfilling life and then the worse happens. The terrorist attack. The trains get bombed. The life support system of my people comes to a standstill. There is death, blood, loss of life and property. Smiles fade and frowns replace them. There’s mourning everywhere. The earning member of the family, the young son, the hard-working daughter, the loving mother, the dedicated father are lost from some families. But the city bounces back. They speak up. It’s a punch in the face of the evil-doers. The life line of the city the trains start refunctioning. People start traveling again. “Defeat” is replaced with the word “Fight”. And here I am and my people in the same position as we were before fulfilled, joyful and content.
