Bhavika Jain, A Connoisseur of Fashion

Bhavika Jain is a student of NMIMS and a connoisseur of fashion.

1) What is fashion to you?
Fashion to me is all about carrying yourself in the perfect attire and most importantly wearing accessories that complement such an attire. I believe accessories like earrings and necklaces make you look complete and I have always been fond of them and love trying out different varieties in the same.

2) What accessories do you design?
Well to begin with I am not a professional as far as jewellery designing is concerned but I do it as a hobby. I have a strong liking for the same and have been inclined towards accessories since my childhood. As of now I design earrings and necklaces and I believe I am pretty good with the same considering I keep getting loads of orders.

3) How did it all began for you?
Jewellery designing began for me all of a sudden and I am still not aware how I started doing this on such a large scale. Tired of locating necklaces that would complement my dress I decided to try my hand at designing necklaces and voila the outcome was absolutely pleasant. Soon after I was wearing the necklace at college and my friends at NMIMS loved them and placed orders with me. And as time passed I was overloaded with orders.

4) Which necklace of yours you believe is the best of all and a unique creation?
There is this necklace with 10 strings of green steer with a green pendant. It is perfect ethnic wear. This necklace complements any Indian outfit and makes western dresses look different. It is simple yet elegant.

5) What is the difficulty involved in neckpieces designing?
There is no such difficulty involved in necklace designing at least for me as that is where my interest lies. However the only difficult task would be locating the right raw materials. It is the most tiring job to go out in the market in search of the raw materials and that is where the hard work is involved.

6) What is the price range of the necklaces that you sell?
The price of the necklace depends upon the quality, pattern and materials used. The simpler one’s would come in the range of Rs200 and the one’s with heavy pearls and beads would cost around Rs500 and the range goes further to Rs750.

7) What is the latest that you have done?
Well the latest is that I have come up with a new collection of 30 sets. Besides that I have recently have had a photo shoot of my collection. You can view my collection and its price on http://www.picasaweb.google.com/.

8) Have you done any course of jewellery designing?
No I haven’t done any course of jewellery designing. It just came naturally to me. You can say that was a hidden talent of mine that I discovered recently. But yes my mom has been a pillar of support for me and has been guiding me through out.
